The situation is even more pronounced with independent documentaries. Many of the streamers consciously act as a wall to prevent informative, provocative and entertaining docs made by independents from reaching audiences.

Our podcast Master Plan is now the 21st most popular podcast series in the world, according to the Apple Podcast charts - which is great. But here's something chilling - just 4 of the top 21 series are from independent outlets. The rest are from big media. I don't know if that's because the algorithms preference big corporate media, or because while audiences claim to not like big corporate media, they actually love big corporate media. Either way, it's a reminder of what an uphill climb independent outlets face in this brave new world of algorithms and platforms and legacy brand loyalties. It's a near-miracle that any of them can crack the top charts as they face such intense headwinds.

This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee. Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person. This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track. With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win. I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect democrats up and down the ballot.
