When we first started feeding the birds, it was during the junco’s migration, so I thought we would always have 15-20 juncos at the feeder. It went down to about three or four regularly, but the junco, common or not, is still one of my favorites day the feeder.

Eye-opening moment for me was meeting a Canadian during a conference in Europe who asked us, star-struck, what was "that amazing blue-winged bird" he saw in a park earlier. We struggled, eventually realising it was a magpie. Being too used to seeing it, we forgot how cool it was

@astweetedbyRP Including tariffs, that base price is probably closer to $65k, and generously I’d say the ceiling for something like this is $30k to make it worth anyone’s while. Anything over that puts it into “fourth car” territory for eccentric rich people who already have an Ineos.

@astweetedbyRP I think they avoid bringing it up for a specific reason. Once you take options into account, pricing is on par with a J250 in the US, and anyone who thinks US consumers, EVEN enthusiasts, with a $60k budget would pick a two-door 70 series over a 250 is delusional.

These types of “build old cars new” people can buy effectively a CPO 1990s Accord at any time, and they never, ever would. This is because they are the same people who go “tHiRtEEn gRaNd fOr An aCCoRd??” They don’t actually want one, or any old car, once it costs real car money.

@astweetedbyRP @AHHHJess1 Depends entirely on the usage. At 68k, as long as it’s on the road, any competent shop in an inspection state will demand rubber get replaced as it ages. That particular Accord is due for a timing belt, but baselining it is still less than the $30k a continuation series would be.

@AHHHJess1 @DavidRoseHRL ^ yup. A lot of these "low miles, careful owner" types don't understand that rubber degrades and they keep the old rubber parts on for ages. It's crazy how people just aren't educated that you need to bin off tyres when they're 10 years old, even if they haven't worn down much.

I think the reason this aesthetic is so haunting for a certain demographic, is that this is what the basement/hangout space at a rich old person’s house with nothing to do looked like as a kid. It threatens the greatest punishment of all: that you will be bored, possibly forever

I genuinely don’t understand how some person who works for an insurance company can have the ability to decline treatment or deem “not medically necessary” when it is prescribed or ordered by a licensed medical professional.
The whole system is unethical.
