@FWRobbins45 How it got to be like this is because originally it was totally fucking absent of any political correctness. Think of the man Wendell Scott had to be to even show up at the track with them guys. We get Bubba Wallace who probably cries when he breaks a nail.

Remember when NASCAR was respected on a national level? Granted, it's always fought a certain stigma (dumb rednecks turning left, etc), but it was arguably viewed very differently years ago as opposed to now. From what I've seen this year, there are a ton of people who think it's a joke. Where did we go wrong? Keep in mind that I am referring to the actual series, not the sanctioning body because I am on board with that argument, most of the suits running the show are hopeless. But the series itself, the competitors, the act of racing "stockcars" (trucks) on American ovals, etc. is what's lacking respect nowadays, unjustifiably.

@DavidfromMd2 Not exactly true. He just won't kill any notables in the O'Reilly series. Arca cars are only slightly slower. Has nothing to do with safety. It's just OK to wreck in Arca.

This is the woman people are actually trying to take up for. She is an unserious person, to be clear. Number one, her driving career is rooted in sex appeal, period. She has shown absolutely nothin on the racetrack that warrants getting a ride with any team, back marker or not. And after the nonsense she pulled at Daytona, which could have seriously injured either herself or someone else, I think it's time for @NASCAR to take a serious look and pulling her license. This shirtless stunt also deserves a high level of scrutiny. Like it or not, the racetrack is a place where people take their families, ie kids. Whether any of them saw this or not, it sends a message that the sanctioning body is totally cool with it if they do. Need to come down with a heavy fist here. #NatalieDecker

So, this is going to piss off the fanboys but we need to be honest here. Garrett has a handful of ARCA starts, several of them punctuated by accidents and that's it in stock cars. He even hit the wall in his Rockingham truck test, the test to get his Daytona certification. The rest of his racing career, outside of Stadium Super Trucks, has been basically at the grass roots level. The guy is fast, no question about it, and I absolutely hope he is successful in NASCAR, but don't call this truck series deal anything other than what it is, a gimmick designed to attract eyeballs to the truck race. Again, I hope he runs top 5 and proves me wrong, but stop telling me he's going to win the race going away.

I love how folks are always saying this, but under no format, past or present, does he get to hoist the big trophy.
