With brief windows of sunshine, the #DigDeepFarms Ardenwood team has continued weeding and installing irrigation sets in the field!

Although this winter wasn’t as wet as we expected, the silver lining is that we were still able to start the month—and the new year—with harvests of #Kale, #Collards, and #GreenOnions!

Join us for the final weekend of the Dig Deep Farms Pumpkin Patch this Saturday and Sunday (October 26 & 27) at 34600 Ardenwood Blvd, Fremont, CA 94555! It’s not too late to stop by and pick out pumpkins to carve and display this Fall!

The #DigDeepFarms #PumpkinPatch is just two weeks away! Most of the pumpkins are now curing in the field and farmyard—almost ready for staging. We’ve got Casperita, Jarrahdale, Porcelain Doll, Scarface, Rouge, and more! #DDFPumpkinPatch

Next Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, #DigDeepFarms will be participating in the Black-Eyed Pea Festival in Oakland. Stop by the DDF booth to meet our Farm Co-Directors, Sasha and Troy, and learn more about our efforts to build more resilient and equitable food systems.

Another month brings a new list of in-season fruits and vegetables! This weekend, visit your local farmers' market to discover fresh, locally grown produce and meet the farmers who nurture these crops.

#SquashBugs have always been a challenge in areas where we grow our pumpkins. Our latest method? Placing wooden planks along the furrows to lure these insects seeking shelter. Each morning, we flip the planks and remove any bugs we find. Simple and pesticide-free!

Thank you to our first group of summer volunteers—Marisa, Ilaria, and Teodora—who dedicated four hours each week for an entire month to help us seed save, trim flowers, sift compost, and more!

#DigDeepFarms Ardenwood Update: The team has been busy weeding the pumpkin sections, addressing the unwanted presence of squash bugs and cucumber beetles, and planting corn for the #PumpkinPatch CORN MAIZE🌽

This week’s #VegetableOfTheWeek is #Zucchini! They are high in water, fiber, and nutrients that aid digestion and decrease the risk of heart disease.

These are just a few of the in-season produce, but head to your local grocery store or farmers’ market to see them all!  Buy local. Eat local. Support local.

#Pollinators help produce 75% of the world’s flowering plants and 35% of our food crops, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts! They play a crucial role in maintaining our shared environment by supporting biodiversity and healthy, balanced ecosystems.

🎃#Pumpkins, #DelicataSquash, and #Butternut squash have made it into the field... and more are on the way! The #GreenOnions, #Kale, and #Collards have all thrived and are ready to be harvested!
