Oh the irony, today thousands of Ready users were given a 1 hour wanring before their cards were shut down.
Sure, assets are safe and transferrable, but it ultimately proves that these accounts are not as decentralized as we're promised.

Major USDC Card Ready Card to Halt Service Outside EEA After Issuer Change
Ready Card notified users that its cards would be disabled within one hour due to changes at its card-issuing service provider, mainly affecting cards used outside the European Economic Area.
Ready Card said user accounts and assets remain safe and only the card service is affected. Ready Card is a self-custodial crypto card and wallet project known for USDC spending, onchain yield products and early work in smart contract wallets and the Starknet ecosystem.

sadly, another provider got hit by regulation. crypto cards are fragile: they still depend on card networks and issuing partners, which means the whole business can be cut off with little notice.
