I’ve had the chance to dive into the work happening here from an expert perspective, and the level of focus on execution is impressive. It’s an exciting time to join their team. Check out the latest opening here: t.mercor.com/mhkCi

Explaining your illness to a new doctor, a skeptical coworker, a "have you tried yoga" friend — that's not incidental to being sick. That's a second job. Unpaid, unscheduled, and it costs spoons like everything else.

healthy people's Monday is a fresh start. mine is an inventory check: what did the weekend cost. what's left. can I afford today. different math. not less valid. #chronicillness #POTS

it's friday. here's my week: Monday: call Tuesday: crash (call bill) Wednesday: 2 hours — I wrote Thursday: crash Friday: this post this is what building from bed looks like. not hustle. not 5 AM. just working inside your actual capacity. spooniversity.org

canceling plans you were dreading is manageable. canceling the ones you were actually excited about is its own kind of grief. the body made that choice. not you.

one good day is not evidence you're fine. it's evidence you had one good day. watch how fast the people around you forget the other six.

"self-paced" doesn't mean what it says. it means: here's the content, good luck. it doesn't mean: we built this knowing your body might not cooperate for 12 days straight. Spooniversity does. spooniversity.org

i didn't build Spooniversity despite my illness. i built it inside it. the async-first structure, the crash-day modules, the solidarity pricing — all of it came from inside the constraint. i don't know how to build any other way.

the medical system was built for episodic illness. get sick → treat → recover. chronic illness skipped the recovery part. you're not falling through the cracks. you're in the space the system never designed for. that's not a personal failure. that's a design flaw.

it's june 1. the calendar says: fresh start. your body says: still tuesday. the spoon budget doesn't know what month it is. starting june from the same place you ended may isn't falling behind. it's accurate.

you know it's POTS when: standing up is the event. brushing your teeth is the cooldown. existing upright is the workout. nobody writes these in the symptom list. but every spoonie just nodded.

high-functioning means: you've gotten very good at hiding it. not that it costs less. not that you've recovered. just that the performance has improved.

i built spooniversity from bed. not as a brand message. literally — from bed. crash days, fog windows, waiting-room voice memos. the output looked the same on the other end. you can build something with this body. it looks different. it's still real.

good days are not a green light. they're a loan. you can spend those spoons on anything you want. but you will pay them back, with interest, whether you planned to or not.
