Imagine losing your legs or arms defeating Nazism and then coming home only to be shipped off to live on an island so you wouldn’t tarnish the image of Stalin’s flawless victory. Or returning home from a Nazi camp for POWs and being sent off to a Soviet camp as a ‘traitor’.

It is like tankies think the Soviet Union was just the US, complete with the post-war boom, just with more free stuff.
Even after the repressions and abuse of veterans, there was just an apocalypse. Housing shortages from everything being blown up, famine, it was awful.

Universal healthcare that is affordable, child care, paternity/maternity leave along with more social services for new parents - might actually help boost the fertility rate.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said two weeks ago that suspending the gas tax would be "a good way to bankrupt the country." "You have to have some source of money to build our roads and bridges and just eliminating it at this time for for the short term pain of increased gas prices, I think is not the best way to approach it."
