Long march yesterday, ran out of food, hungry. From a distance, I was hopeful that this was an apple tree. Walked over for a closer look, darn, hedge apple.

Save America March update: Nearly 150 miles, and today’s gravel roads in Union County are some of the most scenic yet.

Great meeting this morning with local Democrats in Creston.  I have hoped to meet with local Republicans too, but none of them were available. The Save America March is all about coming together across the political spectrum to save our democracy.

With Pat Bertroche in Waukee. Pat ran for Congress years ago on the Republican ticket. I appreciated his hospitality and had a nice visit with him and his friends last night. 

It’s Mahatma Gandhi‘s birthday! 30 years ago, this bag was gifted to me by his granddaughter, Sumitra Kulkarni, when I stayed with her in India. It has served me well, and this month carries all the possessions I need during the 300-mile Save America March.

Because of the circuitous route of the Save America March, I’ve walked 25 miles in 3 days but am only a mile from home. That means lunch with my sweetie.

Talking with a reporter about saving our democracy by recognizing and celebrating our common ground, regardless of our heritage or other differences.

Good message as I begin a 300-mile march to converse with my fellow Iowans about saving our democracy.
