🚩France’s exclusion from the Washington Israeli-Lebanese talks should have been a diplomatic scandal, a historic ally locked out of the most significant Lebanon negotiation in thirty years. But Beirut didn’t protest, didn’t lobby for French inclusion, and didn’t even notice. That silence is the real verdict. France spent decades posturing as Lebanon’s guardian, hosting summits, drafting frameworks, and performing concern from the chandeliered rooms of the Élysée, while Hezbollah’s arsenal swelled from fifteen thousand rockets to two hundred thousand under the watch of French UNIFIL troops who enforced nothing. Macron proposed Paris as the venue for these very talks, drafted a recognition plan, and personally called Aoun, Salam, and Berri, and previously Mikati, to choreograph a French-led diplomatic triumph. Today, Lebanon and Israel are sitting across from each other at the State Department in Washington, brokered by Marco Rubio and mediated by the American Ambassador to Beirut, Michel Issa, who is of Lebanese origin and remains a Lebanese. France was not just sidelined, it was rendered irrelevant by its own record of performing diplomacy without producing a single enforceable outcome. The bridge Macron wanted to claim credit for was built by others, and the cruelest part isn’t that France was excluded, it’s that nobody in Beirut objected.
Emmanuel Macron@EmmanuelMacron

Yesterday, I spoke with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, as well as with U.S. President Donald Trump. I urged the resumption of the negotiations suspended in Islamabad, the clearing up of misunderstandings, and the avoidance of any further escalation. It is essential, in particular, that the ceasefire be strictly respected by all parties and that it include Lebanon. It is equally important that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened unconditionally, without restrictions or tolls, as soon as possible. Under these conditions, negotiations should be able to resume quickly, with the support of the key parties concerned. France and the United Kingdom will also host a conference in Paris this Friday, bringing together by videoconference non-belligerent countries ready to contribute, alongside us, to a multilateral and purely defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the strait when security conditions allow.

Italy’s Giorgia Meloni just waited for her defense deal with Israel to auto-renew, so she could boldly claim she was 'suspending' it. Here’s what nobody teaches you about politicspeak in school: the more precisely a politician chooses their words, the less they actually mean. Meloni didn’t “end” the defense deal. She didn’t “cancel” it. She didn’t even “block” it. Notice the careful words: she “suspended the automatic renewal.” Which is the geopolitical equivalent of letting your car lease auto-renew for another five years, then telling your spouse you’ve decided to “suspend future renewals.” You’re still making the payments. The car is still in your driveway. You’re just hoping she remembers the announcement and not the math. You just want credit for the bold and brave gesture. And the timing is beautiful. The agreement quietly renewed on April 13. She made her announcement on April 14. Meaning she waited for the paperwork to go through, then walked into a wine festival in Verona and told cameras she was taking a brave stand. She said the word “suspend” into a microphone and let everyone hear whatever they wanted to hear. Because here’s what she actually needs: Brussels must see her standing with the European consensus against Israel. Washington must know the defense architecture is still intact. Italian voters must feel like something happened. And Leonardo’s stock price must not wobble. The word “suspend” is doing all the heavy lifting. And it’s doing a magnificent job.

In 2006 European states pressured Israel into a ceasefire with Lebanon. Many promises were made about disarming Hezbollah and policing the border. A @UN resolution followed. Then they all sat and did nothing as Hezbollah amassed 150000 rockets. Today? Europe can just shut up.

I lived in Lebanon for 15 years, and during that time I visited southern Lebanon more times than I can remember. The first few times I went to the Israeli-Lebanese border, there was just a fence. You could see the beautiful farms on the Israeli side. Sometimes you’d notice people going about their work, and every now and then an Israeli patrol passing between the double fence. On the Lebanese side, I saw the Shia villages, people immersed in a culture of sacred violence. Flags everywhere. Images of Khamenei, Hassan Nasrallah, and Hezbollah fighters. Slogans on buildings that made everything feel heavy and ugly. A few years later, Israel reinforced the fence. There had been harassment of soldiers, and more security was needed. Still, you could catch glimpses of the other side, the contrast remained. A couple of years later, I was sad when I went to the usual spot and found a massive wall. All I could see was the ugliness on our side. Israel never initiated aggression against us. It was pushed to build checkpoints, fences, and walls, and when necessary, to come in and deal with those who know nothing but death. Mario frames his post as if Israel wants to occupy and control Lebanon, when in reality Israel is doing what the incompetent Lebanese government failed to do for decades. Israel wants to live in peace with its neighbors. It is the neighbors, driven by a divine mandate to erase Israel, who keep bringing out the worst in it.

🇮🇱🇱🇧Israel's conditions for Lebanon leaked and they amount to a partition plan... Diplomatic sources told Al-Modon that Israel wants Lebanon divided into three zones: Zone 1: An 8km buffer strip in the south. Permanent. No return for displaced civilians. Zone 2: Everything south of the Litani River becomes a military operations area where Israel dismantles Hezbollah infrastructure and disarms it completely. Israeli forces leave only when they decide they're finished. Zone 3: North of the Litani and all remaining Lebanon. The Lebanese Army must fully disarm and dismantle Hezbollah on its own. Israel won't withdraw from anywhere until Beirut proves it's done. In other words, Israel occupies the south indefinitely, controls the middle until satisfied, and holds the north hostage to conditions Lebanon's army almost certainly cannot meet. Hezbollah has been embedded in Lebanese society for 40 years. Demanding the Lebanese Army dismantle it is like demanding someone perform surgery on themselves. Today Rubio hosts Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors in Washington for the most direct high-level meeting between the two countries since 1993. These conditions are what Israel walks in with. The State Department framing: "Israel is at war with Hezbollah, not Lebanon." The Israeli plan: occupy a third of Lebanon until every last Hezbollah weapon is accounted for. Those two statements cannot coexist. Source: Aljadeed, Axios

Pedrito Sanchez is a dangerous man desperate to cover up his own corruption with the easiest trick in the book: blame the Jews. The idea that international law is being violated “mainly” by Israel is obviously false and part of a rich tradition of putting the Jews at the core of the world’s problems.

The war that the filthy animal Islamic regime in Iran started against the UAE and the Gulf Arab nations has only pushed us closer to the United States. It will further deepen and strengthen our ties with America and Israel, and has helped us find new, reliable allies such as South Korea and India certainly not Starmer’s Britain. And let’s be honest: the region has benefited from Israel’s elimination of Hezbollah’s terrorist networks, which for years spread death and drugs across the region.
