The FSN is mourning the loss of Dr. Kenneth Heilman; program director for the behavioral neurology conference, and a distinguished professor emeritus at the University of Florida. Our thoughts are with his family at this time, and we hope to continue to honor his many accolades.

Is a limb shaking TIA a real thing? You bet it is. Usually it is underpinned by carotid disease and ischemia and it can be dismissed by clinicians during the history or examination. Described by the great Miller‑Fisher in 1962. Don't miss it. Tips: 1- rhythmic or arrhythmic involuntary hyperkinesias affecting the hand, arm, leg, hand-arm, or hand-arm-leg unilaterally. 2- no Bravais-Jacksonian march 3- face muscles are always spared 4- upper limbs are more affected 5- occasional asymmetric jerking; could involve both limbs 6- descriptive words to look out for from people include: "swinging", "jerking", "twitching", "shaking", "trembling", inability to control the arm" and "lack of coordination". ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… ecommons.aku.edu/cgi/viewconten…
