@MagickNET @github @VisualStudio Okay, looks like we have a solution! There seems to have been a focus bug. If you get on the latest version of VS 17.10, and have our latest VS Copilot Chat marketplace bits, it should be resolved.

@FilishaShah @github @VisualStudio I am using the copilot chat window inside visual studio and sometimes when I ask a question there it suddenly switches to the file that is open and I continue to type there. No clue what triggers this because otherwise I would have something reproducible that I can report.

Not sure if it's just me but @GitHub #Copilot sometimes switches to a file with code in @VisualStudio while I am trying to ask it a question. And that then breaks my code because I am suddenly typing my question in a code file. Not sure what I am doing to cause this...

@computervillain @MagickNET @github @VisualStudio Curious to know where its unable to help you? Have you tried using the #solution context? Or are you talking about Copilot completions?

@Abt_Benjamin @VisualStudio Copilot is working fine for me. Copilot chat is totally bugged in VS.

Dont know why, but @GitHub Copilot is totally broken in Visual Studio for days now. It does not create any specific code anymore, just templates.

@Abt_Benjamin Another thing you can use is slash commands with '/'. And ask it to /doc for you if you want some documentation here or /explain and then # to specific lines. You can also use Copilot inline when you right click anywhere in the editor, and here it will implicitly know context

it does not create any comments for selected code also

@Abt_Benjamin @VisualStudio Hey there! We're actually in the midst of a big improvement on how context is selected and referred to in Copilot. You are right, there's been a big change! The best way to actually get good answers is to say- "Where is the bug? in #file. # allows you to select lines of code

Looks like Copilot in @VisualStudio does not have the context to the selected code anymore.

@FilishaShah @VisualStudio Felt like I was pair programming with a better version of myself. It was able to safely deduce what I was going to do next in a suggestive form & I just "tab" away 🥹 making things a lot faster. - For someone who loved @resharper back in the day, this is on a whole new level ! 🔥

The Copilot on @VisualStudio 2022 feels like coding on steroid ! -- HRs should set a different KPI for people using it, because its really unfair to those who aren't 🥲 -- I feel young again ! 💃🕺😇🤗
