Burkina Faso’s government under President Ibrahim Traoré has shut down all laboratories involved in a controversial genetically modified mosquito project, ordering the destruction of remaining samples and halting over a decade of research.
The project, known as Target Malaria, involved releasing gene-edited mosquitoes into the wild to combat malaria. It had been operating in the country since 2012 and had just received regulatory approval from Burkina Faso’s biosafety authorities weeks earlier.
However, the government acted after strong public opposition, stating that the people of Burkina Faso had not consented to their country being used as a testing ground for Western biotechnology experiments.
The modified mosquitoes were being developed in laboratories in the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

خطأ صيني واحد نفع وعلم البشرية...الصين استثمرت حوالي 300 مليار دولار في الألواح الشمسية في منطقة تشكل الصحراء فيها 98% منها.
بعد فترة من تركيب هذه الألواح تسببت في توفير الظل وحجب الرياح عن هذه المنطقة الصحراوية.و المياه المستخدمة في غسل هذه الألواح الشمسية أدت إلى نمو نباتات بكثافة أسفلها ،وتحولت هذه المنطقة الصحراوية من "صفر نباتات" إلى 80% نباتات في غضون 3 سنوات فقط.
ولكن أدى هذا الي ظهور مشكلة!!
بدأت الأشجار والحشائش بالنمو بكثافة لدرجة إعاقة عمل الألواح بكفاءة.
وكانت محاولات حصد الزرع باستخدام الناس مكلفة للغاية ،والمحاولات باستخدام الماكينات لم تنجح في الحصاد تحت الألواح، وبدأ الزرع ينمو فوق الألواح مما خرب إنتاج الطاقة.
اقترح أحدهم إحضار الماشية، واستبعدوا الأبقار لأنها قد تكسر الألواح الشمسية.وكان الحل الأمثل هو إحضار الأغنام (الخراف).
وظهرت النتائج الإيجابية لهذا الاقتراح سريعاً.
أصبحت هذه المنطقة مرعى مثالي لهذه الأغنام فقد كانت الحشائش والنباتات متوفرة بكثرة.
وحولت هذه المشكلة المنطقة الصحراوية إلى منطقة رعوية بإمتياز في سنوات قليلة.
تكاثرت الأغنام من 600 رأس إلى 20,000 رأس في ثلاث سنوات فقط.
وأصبح المكسب مضروب في إثنين بل في ثلاثة إنتاج طاقة متجددة نظيفه ،وتربية مواشي والربح منها ،وايضاً تحويل منطقة صحراوية إلي منطقة رعوية خضراء.
و بداء يطبق مزارعون في أمريكا وفي دول أخرى هذه التجربة الفريدة في مناطق صحراوية بعد أن رأوها وحققت نجاحاً كبيراً.
وهذا ما يمكن أن نسميه فن تحويل المشاكل الي فرص ونجاحات.

A new study by Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs reveals that US consumers have been hit with more than $40 billion in extra gasoline and diesel costs since Washington joined Israel in launching a war against Iran on 28 February. The report, compiled in collaboration with the Climate Solutions Lab, highlights that the average US household has paid over $300 more at the pump in less than three months. Researchers emphasize that these war-driven energy price shocks function as an economy-wide, unacknowledged tax on ordinary citizens, far exceeding the direct $29 billion Washington has spent on missiles, bombs, and military deployments.
The economic fallout is a direct consequence of the regional devastation caused by the US-Israeli aggression, which killed thousands of Iranians and triggered immediate retaliation. Tehran swiftly asserted control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, blocking the waterway through which one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments flow, which has kept crude oil prices spiked above $100 a barrel. The Watson Institute notes that the $40 billion extracted from US drivers could have completely funded major domestic infrastructure initiatives, including the federal Bridge Investment Program to modernize over 10,200 bridges, or the $31.5 billion overhaul of the US air traffic control system.
The severe inflation comes at a politically perilous time for the Trump administration, as rising costs for fuel, groceries, and basic necessities fuel widespread public anger ahead of the November midterm elections. Although a Pakistani-mediated ceasefire has held since 8 April, diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran remain stalled due to unreasonable US demands.

I wasn’t a fan of Mr. Ahmadinejad during his first term, and my aversion only grew during his second. But why would the New York Times now publish a claim branding him an alleged traitor to his own country? Why would the criminal Trump regime reveal its supposed assets in the first place? What’s the real agenda here? Even if the story were true, it reflects a staggering misunderstanding of Iran - its powerful state institutions, its sophisticated civil society - and a deeply orientalist lens through which law and constitution are treated as irrelevant.
