This photograph from Gloucester Citizen Newspapers of a little boy attending a fancy dress parting in January 1972 dressed as an astronaut, made me think of some of the fun jobs children dream of. What did you want to be when you where older? 🚀

Take a look at this article from @WiltsAndGlosStd They've recently deposited a lot of material with us that is going to be useful for local history researchers in Gloucestershire for years to come. Many trolleys were needed to move it all! Read it here: orlo.uk/0ZBEK

For the eagle eyed amongst you, you’ll have seen our advent focus on parishes beginning with certain letters spelt out 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' – and we do! 🎄 See you in the new year!

Day 24, or Christmas eve, here is a picture of what most children expect tomorrow: Santa bringing them presents! This is in Standish Hospital in 1968, taken from the citizen newspaper. Did you have any similar toys? Ref: D10638/1/1968/52/21

On the 20th day of advent we're going back to the 1940s. Specifically, the lives of evacuees in Sapperton. Here is an extract from a 'magazine', a compilation of drawings and articles written by evacuees describing their experiences. Ref: D14013/3

Can you help? A Customer has asked if we can identify this building. The photograph was taken in 1976 and thought to be in the Cotswolds. We are stumped! Any ideas?

Day 17 of advent takes us to the village of Horton, where Mr Mills recollects the Horton Bull. This was an old tradition at Christmas, where someone would dress up in the skin and horns of a bull and visit the local pubs. Have you got a similar tradition near you? Ref: D6822/71
