They, and let’s face it a lot of associate professors, wonder where these internet warrior trainees who allegedly slap ready for submission (“95% done” in this week’s discussion) manuscripts on the desk every quarter are.

At this point if my career arc it should not require so much siloing of my brain from all other work duties to do my part on advancing a manuscript to something nearly ready for submission.

@Geeka Average size of a protein, any protein, in a human cell is 35kda. That translates roughly to 300-400aa. Your 12 TM is probably about 400aa and about 45kda I assume

Reviewing a chapter for something. States that most proteins are in the 300-400aa range. Is this true? Or am I biased by working on too many 12-TM proteins?

@davonmagwood I am one of the few that grew up on the south side. There's always been an element of partiers that have been there, but it's like a hellscape during the day now too. Too much has been spent on accommodating the non-locals. For example: SSW.

The South Side of Pittsburgh has always been a violent, drunken hell pit. It's literally where bridge and tunnelers and college kids go to act like assholes.

@PartridgeCG From what I remember, you also need to be aware of the low binding tips (basically anything that's plastic). Some things don't come in that format, so you have to do a blocking step on the plastic to defeat binding. (I don't remember what we used.)
