Our thoughts with @TMBelgrano on ending Parachute Science are published in the @SocietyEconGeol discovery, Jan 2022 issue. Head to lnkd.in/eEby5rhG for full copy of the article. #value (take) for #value(give) #geoscience #involvement #collaboration

So, analytical geoscience knowledge creation is not equitably distributed either globally, or for individuals trying to work in this field. GeoCoLab is a proposed digital technology that aims to address this. Find out more in our next blog and tweet thread.

For some, they have had to discontinue their work entirely. How many research hypotheses are never tested? Whose knowledge is excluded? How does this inequity for historically excluded groups manifest in the discipline as a whole? We explore this in our next blog....

This small survey sample has identified what we're calling the 'access to analytical facilities gap'. The gap is widest for minority researchers in the UK, and those from countries in the Global South. Why is this important? We explore this in our next blog...

Why GeoCoLab? There are deep inequities in Geoscience in the UK and Globally. We are motivated to provide a digital solution that would help closer some of this inequality. Read more about our motivation 👇 geocolab.github.io/blog/blog1/

As part of the @NERCscience Digital Technologies to Open Environmental Science Hackathon 2021, we wanted to explore how these inequities in access to analytical facilities may play out in global knowledge production of analytical geoscience.
