😠 Russia has carried out over 13,000 chemical attacks since the full-scale invasion, Ukraine’s General Staff says. In March alone, nearly 400 cases were recorded, with gas grenades and chemical agents dropped by drones, and usage expected to rise in warmer months.

Today marks one year since Russia’s missile strike on Kryvyi Rih – one of the most horrifying attacks on children since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. On April 4, 2025, Russian forces launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile at a densely populated residential district in the centre of Kryvyi Rih, a major city in the Dnipro region. The strike hit in the early evening, exploding over an area of apartment blocks and private homes – right next to a children’s playground and a park. There were no military targets in the area. Within hours, Russia followed up with drone strikes on the city. 21 people were killed by Russia, including 9 children, and 75 people were injured, among them 12 children. Many victims were on or near the playground when the missile struck. This was terror. Russia deliberately targets homes, parks, and even playgrounds. The international community must not become numb to ongoing Russian crimes. Pressure on Russia must not be reduced, delayed, or softened. It must be increased – through stronger sanctions and greater support for Ukraine’s defence – until Russia is forced to stop its aggression. No child should ever be murdered on a playground.

Five people were killed and at least 19 others injured after Russian strikes hit a market in Nikopol, Dnipro region, on April 4, in broad daylight. Among the wounded is a 14-year-old girl. She was hospitalised in critical condition. The attack caused fires and severe damage. Earlier today, Russia also attacked Sumy (at least 7 civilians were injured), Kharkiv (3 people were injured), settlements across Dnipro region (3 civilians were injured, including a 5-month-old baby and a 6-year-old child), and Kyiv. This attacks followed yesterday’s Russian strikes that brought death and destruction. Ukraine proposed an Easter ceasefire, but Russia continued to respond with more strikes, rejecting diplomacy and peace efforts. Strong international pressure on the aggressor state must follow.

Since this morning, Russia has been carrying out a new wave of drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's civilian population, targeting residential areas and critical infrastructure across multiple regions, killing at least 1 person. In the Kyiv region, a drone struck a residential building in Obukhiv, and another attack occurred between a kindergarten and a school in Vyshneve, damaging homes. In the Poltava region, UAVs damaged private homes and farms in the Myrhorod and Poltava districts. In Sumy, a shopping mall in the city center was damaged, and civilians were injured. Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv, as well as in the Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions. Poland raised its aviation and placed air defense and radar systems on high alert due to Russian missiles flying near NATO airspace. These were preventive measures, but they are a reminder of how close this war is to the borders of the European Union and NATO. The purpose of these daytime strikes is clear. Russia is deliberately trying to increase the number of civilian victims, disrupt life, spread fear, and damage Ukraine’s infrastructure.
