It might be getting chillier out there but there are plenty of good finds to be had if you know where to look! Another brilliant walk out there with one fossil hunter even finding this beautiful fossilised shark's tooth, a real rarity on our beaches!

The geology of the Falls of Falloch by @ScottishGeologist Join us for an unforgettable geology tour of the breathtaking Falls of Falloch, located within the stunning Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. This tour, hosted by @ScottishGeologist, offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty and geological history of the Scottish Highlands. As we walk along the scenic paths that wind through the area, you’ll discover the fascinating rock formations that form the metasedimentary rocks of the Dalradian supergroup and landscapes shaped by ancient glaciers, tectonic activity, and water erosion. The Falls of Falloch, a beautiful 30-foot waterfall cascading into a deep plunge pool, provides the perfect backdrop for learning about the region’s geological evolution. Tour Highlights: • An introduction to the geological history of the Loch Lomond area and of Scotland. • Insight into the ancient forces that shaped the landscape, including glaciation and erosion which in turn formed the waterfalls gorge • A closer look at metamorphic rocks typical of the Scottish Highlands that represent the Dalradian supergroup. • Stunning views of the Falls of Falloch and its surroundings, with opportunities for photography and nature appreciation. there are two ticket options available - 1 for pick up from Glasgow city centre at 10:30 or you can meet us there at 12:00. Prepare for an exciting adventure through time and rock formations with @ScottishGeologist! scottishgeologist.co.uk/store/p/falls-…

Spotting fossils in the limestone of the Yorkshire Dales can be tricky due to all the lichens. A great place to look, however, is in stream beds! Check out these lovely little corals and crinoid stems we saw near Grassington #FossilFriday

Sometimes Mother Nature does the prep work for you! This Siphonodendron coral was collected from a stream near Appletreewick in the Yorkshire Dales. The slightly acidic water has preferentially dissolved the limestone matrix, exposing the coral beautifully! #FossilFriday

The rocks you can find here represent an old oceanic piece of crust that’s been obducted onto the continental crust during the Caledonian orogeny - I have a wee trip planned here for next Wednesday if anyone’s interested that involves looking at these rocks - scottishgeologist.co.uk/store/p/ballan… You can either get a ticket that includes transport from Glasgow or meet us there.

The Welsh slate landscape is so incredibly special. I walked along the spoil tips bordering Penrhyn Quarry, the whispers from the abandoned blocks of slate were deafening! #WhispersOfRock
