Call for Applications 2026: The Megatrends Afrika project is awarding three fellowships to African postdoctoral researchers. The project conducts policy-relevant interdisciplinary research on Africa and provides policy advice to decision-makers. The deadline is 25 March 2026.

The project focused on last-mile energy access for households, social institutions, and businesses and reached thousands of beneficiaries across Liberia.

This solar system used to provide energy to a project office which was used by GIZ, the German Agency for International Cooperation. GIZ implemented a project which was funded by the governments of Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Norway.

On February 23, 2026, the Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Monrovia, Ms. Daniela Weber, handed over a solar energy system to the Office of Precious Minerals in the premises of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
