@ThinkingSapien @GooBirdz @reddit_lies @Awk20000 …but additionally, I have to wonder about section 230 protections. With the law as it stands now, Reddit would escape any civil litigation. But laws change and I could foresee a future where Reddit gets less civil litigation protection than they do now.

@ThinkingSapien @GooBirdz @reddit_lies @Awk20000 Let me clarify, I’m using “accountable” loosely. I don’t expect arrests, I expect heat from the media like every other social media platform receives. Reddit is basically skating Scot free other than angst from the right

@Saraphim___ @HeadBarbInChrge @GooBirdz @reddit_lies @Awk20000 Right. You can’t sue them because of section 230 protections. Case would get tossed out. And platforms are allowed to pick and choose what kind of content they censor/remove and are somewhat still protected by section 230. I think Reddit is a different case though….

@HeadBarbInChrge @GooBirdz @reddit_lies @Awk20000 Let’s say you owned a company and someone Reddit spread false information about your product, the mods left it up, and Reddit refused to intervene. Should you be able to take Reddit to court for damages?

@GooBirdz @reddit_lies @Awk20000 Not saying they would face criminal charges unless there’s proof they’re a foreign government op (which some subreddits are), but they shouldn’t be allowed section 230 protection

@GooBirdz @reddit_lies @Awk20000 They used the excuse of “threats against law enforcement” back then, but willingly let that type of content flourish now. The Condé Nast family and fidelity are the main “owners” of Reddit. Both are getting away Scot free.

The Islamic Republic is living inside its collapse plan. That is not evidence of resilience. It is evidence that the system is collapsing. What many observers read as signs of endurance, continued missile fire, street repression, state broadcasting, leadership succession, and other visible signs of continuity, do not show a regime that has absorbed the shock. They show a regime falling back on the emergency mechanisms it built for the moment its center was hit and its command structure began to fracture. This is not strength. It is a collapsing system trying to survive long enough for Washington to lose patience. Read more: parpanchi.substack.com/p/what-looks-l…

@asgaritech @RCFG2021 @TheIranWatcher What you’re saying isn’t that realistic. These regular Artesh or army are probably starved of information. They are probably kept away from any weapons. They might defect at some point but not likely to happen when the nuts in the irgc or basij are out there patrolling

@RCFG2021 @TheIranWatcher As an Iranian I kind of agree with Richie somewhat. They should have been the human shield between the people and IRGC. They should have tried to steal guns, and fight back, saving the people. The artesh is there to protect the people.

🚨 “Our commanders have abandoned us. They’re hiding like rats.” An Iranian soldier in Lorestan says commanders have deserted their posts and gone into hiding fearing Israeli and US bombardment, leaving conscripts like him to face the danger alone. He says soldiers are sleeping outside in barracks yards, the desert, and the wilderness out of fear. Reports like this are becoming increasingly common, with soldiers saying their commanders are sacrificing their lives while protecting their own.

@RCFG2021 @TheIranWatcher There’s only evidence to the contrary Richie. The regular army isn’t used for internal security. So it’s not likely at all they had anything to do with the massacres

@BushSniffer6969 @terrybythebay I scrolled. She’s one of those deniers who doubt the massacre ever happened. What a shame, terry seemed like a nice person.

@BushSniffer6969 @terrybythebay Haven’t searched through her history but odds are she either didn’t care about the massacres or thought the regime was in the right. Now she’s trying to scold iranians for being happy about possible liberation.

Iranian opposition channels report that over the past 24 hours, the IRGC and Basij have been turning schools, mosques, and hospitals into their bases. They are abandoning their own headquarters due to widespread strikes on Basij camps and police stations, and relocating to civilian sites, using the same tactics as Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist groups. By doing so, the IRGC and Basij endanger civilians and effectively turn them into human shields. @h3976a

This is actually probably the best response a European can give and he hits something very important. The failure of international liberalism is that it asymmetrically imposes the constraints of international law upon the democratic but does not impose any consequences upon the dictator who see no constraints. Over time, what we have witnessed, is the creep of undemocratic because there is no consequence to ignoring or even exploiting the international system.

Wow.
