WILDFLOWER WEDNESDAY Alpine Avens are currently blooming in #RMNP. These bright yellow flowers bloom in alpine areas from Alaska to New Mexico. In summer, American pika collect Alpine Avens to store in haypiles to supplement their diet during the long winter season.

Rising Buffalo spoke to us about his Native American culture & its connection to the Park. We sat among the trees w/hummingbirds listening to his heartfelt story of courage & determination.Later we drove through the park to the West side & stood at the start of the Colorado River

Today we went riding through the Rockies! We learned about “Dude Ranching” and the various ecosystems through the park! My horse was Gertie the small, but mighty horse that kept everyone else in line! Thank you Hi Country Stables for the wonderful experience!

Love to Learn! Especially when it’s from amazing teachers from all over the country! We visited over 8 National Parks/Monuments, state parks, & road cuts with Geology Camp ‘24 sponsored by Texas A&M and Aramco. It was an amazing experience to amazing places I learned SO much! TY!

Carved into Texas Hill Country decades ago by a one-of-a-kind flood.. Exposing rock formations, fossils and even dinosaur footprints in just three days. @CanyonLakeGorge We had views of its limestone cliffs, lagoons, waterfalls, & geologic formations created 110 million years ago

White Sands National Park! It might be my favorite one so far! From the Tularosa Basin is one of the world's great natural wonders - the glistening white sands of NM. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield

Thank you Texas A&M for the great learning experience! This is just another reminder of the importance of hands-on learning! I have learned SO much not only about rocks & Geology, but about history and even cultures of our Mid-Western states. Now at the Alamo & back to Houston.

Dinosaur footprints & other fossils- millions of years old found here in Canyon Lake Gorge. We are in Hill Country of Texas and there is MUCH Geology to be discovered! We walked on ancient fossilized ripples that once lay under Ocean. More proof to Pangaea and Continental Drift!

Back in Texas! At the highest point in the state - Guadalupe Mountains National Park protects the world's most extensive Permian fossil reef, the four highest peaks in Texas, an environmentally diverse collection of flora and fauna. Next stop San Antonio and the Alamo!

Deep rocky canyons, flowering cactus, and desert wildlife—treasures above the ground in the Chihuahuan Desert. Hidden beneath the surface are more than 119 caves—formed when sulfuric acid dissolved limestone leaving behind caverns of all sizes. Loved exploring Carlsbad Caverns!
