The mother of Nhlamulo has the same source as the police; the same person used to discredit her is the same person credited for the story. A friend of Nhlamulo, who happens to be Xhosa, told the mother that her son was killed because he could not speak isiXhosa, even though he pleaded and indicated that he had a South African ID. It must be heartbreaking to be told that, on top of losing your son, the country is calling him a thief and a gangster.
