We are coordinating a sector-wide letter to the Cabinet Office calling for a review of the term “GRT” (Gypsy, Roma, Traveller) in Government guidance. This is a key opportunity to ensure language, monitoring, and policy reflect community-preferred terminology and disaggregated data for effective targeting. The letter draws on the Traveller Movement briefing paper,  The Importance of accurate ethnic monitoring and data inclusion for Romani (Gypsy) Roma and ethnic Traveller (Irish/Scottish) communities and highlights the importance of respectful, accurate, and evidence-based practice. With a good response so far of over 60 signatures, we are doing a final push in the last week to sign the letter. The final date for signing the letter is Thursday 30th April at 10pm.
