Having a come-to-Jesus realization about one of the many ways boxing is broken. For context, look at the percentage increase in body weight for boxing’s current weight classes vs the increases in the proposed alternative. The jumps make more sense plus there’s more parity #boxing

@samlymatters I think it is more than just “every 15 years.” Boomers are defined by that post-WW2 era; Gen-Xers were formed by the end of the Cold War; millennials were school-aged around the internet boom; etc. Outer years are shaky bc we cant outline those events until we have perspective

I’m joking, but I am kind fascinated by the construct of generations. Of course someone born in 1994 is going to have more in common with someone born in 1997 than 1980 despite 97 being Gen Z. I think using defining events as opposed to “every generation is 15 years” makes sense.

I’m a younger millennial (92) and it was kind of a bummer how quickly Gen Z took over the cultural narrative after COVID. I miss killing industries! I miss being blamed for everything by the Times.

The feed killed Instagram. Why would you show me people I don’t follow more than I do follow? The whole point in a follow button is I want to see that persons post. The explore page is to find people you might want to follow. Most pointless app. It’s only useful for content creators and meme accounts now.

@TonyDaDome I once saw a Seinfeld interview where he says he didn’t curse on stage bc he felt like they were cheap laughs — it had nothing to do with keeping a clean image I feel the same way about rap. Many guys curse to fill up syllables in their bars, but it’s not additive to the message

I see this defense often, but it's a weak one. The electoral college actually incentivizes a very narrow geographical focus on a handful of "swing states" to the detriment of the country at large.

Correct. The electoral college forces candidates to have at least some degree of support in multiple parts of the country, rather than solely running up the score on the coasts. It's better for national unity to get to 270 on 48% of the vote than to win an outright popular vote majority based heavily on coastal cities.
