Saint Francis's Division I era ends with a road loss to Central Connecticut, on the very same court where the Red Flash made their tournament dreams come true just under a year ago. And then there were no more Saint Francis-es left in Division I college basketball. Heartbroken.

Feast Week begins with four #NECMBB games, two early, two evening with three home games. FDU begins its MTE with East Texas A&M. SFU hosts Belmont. Another CT clash with CCSU hosting Sacred Heart. LIU's three-game road trip ends at Missouri State, looking to stop a two-game losing streak.

@NelCastNY Thank you….this is another reason why SFU dropping to D3 is so disappointing to many.beside basketball, softball and other programs competing vs higher conferences for $$$ I think football was close to MAJOR paydays vs Penn St or Pitt that would have helped entire athletic dept

@HoopsRp I really have no idea. That is the guarantee money part. I'm assuming there are some other perks to the trip. I agree, I also thought $525K was kind of low.

LIU Football is starting the 2025 college football season on Saturday in the Swamp at #15-ranked Florida. No line yet, but LIU will be very heavy underdogs. LIU is receiving $525,000 for making the trip. The Gators are the first-ever SEC school LIU Football has played since jumping up to D1 from D2 in '19.

@NelCastNY Such a joke!!! The way this went down and the lack of respect and regard for the pride and joy of this school, being the competitive D1 school in the rolling hills of western central PA, is forever going to be an issue for hundreds and thousands who cherish their time in Loretto

SFU released its final D1 non-conference schedule before heading to D3 next season. Home opener vs old #NECMBB foe Mount St. Mary’s and then closing out the non-conference slate vs another old NEC foe in Robert Morris. In between, another road heavy slate with power conference games at Oklahoma, TCU, Xavier, and Florida.

No major news from a fan standpoint came from this year's Northeast Conference Spring Meetings last month. The biggest news was that NEC is finally getting a new graphics package for its NEC Front Row broadcasts, an overdue but very welcome addition. northeastconference.org/news/2025/6/19…

Why do coaches “stall” at the end of basketball games in JUNE? Not a tournament format where you win and move on. That I would understand. Just a 3 game format where everyone pays to play. You want me to practice being down 10 with 3 minutes to go against your stall? SMH

@NelCastNY No doubt….the BIG question now….does Rob return??? Such a class act, stand-up, gentleman…. I hope some D1 coach makes him an offer he can’t refuse!!! He deserved better treatment for his unwavering loyalty and the manner and nature in which he has ALWAYS represented ST FRANCIS

I hate saying this to SFU folks who are already mad/sad/annoyed but I've heard through sources, most of this SFU roster had planned to return with the exception of a player or two. Now, they have to get a roster of likely mostly D3 players or D1/D2 guys willing to pay their way to play a season of D1 ball and build some stats/a market to take to the portal next offseason.

We have now unofficially reached fifty #NECMBB players who entered the transfer portal during the first three days. That now exceeds the number of names entered during last year's transfer portal window.
