On April 28, Translating Falasteen x The Sameer Project distributed food to displaced families at the Girls’ Gaza Shelter in Al-Daraj. We gave 1,650 burgers with tarashi, ketchup, and mayonnaise to internally displaced people sheltering there. We also provided 30 meals to station workers and 40 meals to bakery workers and children at the bakery site in the North. The total cost was $4,545 at this shelter. In total, 3,000 burger sandwiches were prepared and distributed that day at a total cost of $8,270 after 11% commission. This is a huge expense and unfortunately donations have gone down and we have had to cut back on the number of days our kitchen is open - heartbreaking since so many people are still in need.
