One more highlight from #ICA23 was getting an @ICA_Language top paper award! The paper was part of my dissertation and it felt so good to get such a positive response 🥰
Ready for the sessions of tomorrow? We've what had many interesting papers, but there's more to come! What will we learn besides anonymity, craftsmanship, morality, emotion, ritualization, civic studies, impoliteness, name calling and news coverage??
The top papers panel reflected the diverse nature of our division: ethnography, discourse analysis and quantitative work were all present. Excellent papers showing the presence of authority all around us (analysis of respondent @gonendh)
Sometimes an account is not required. This is definitely true for reading and rereading Richard Buttny's work. Thanks to Trudy Milburn, Todd Sandel, Theresa Castor, Cynthia Gordon and Jay Leighter for presenting us with an excellent panel honoring Richard's work!
Did we all put the LSI social into our agenda? We've had so many interesting presentations, so there's a lot to talk about while having a drink! See you tonight (28/5) at 7pm at Joe Bird! We'll meet at 6:15 in front of the Sheraton to walk there.

It was great to present my and Michal Neubauer-Shani's study about the media debate about civics studies in Israel at #ICA23.
I tried to make up for the lack of slides due to a faulty HDMI cable by using lots on non-verbal communication (i.e. frantic hand movements)
