Banarasi saree is Indian. Saree is Indian. Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh wear sarees due to influence of India and Hinduism. Banarasi saree is mentioned in the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Rig Veda. There is no "common heritage" and there is no "South Asia"! There is nothing common between Hinduism and Islam. Pakis and Bangladeshis k*ll Hindus in their country and then cry on social media about "common heritage"! Give it a rest to your BS at least on our New Year!

Dhakai Benarasi is NOT Indian. Neither is Saree an Indian ONLY artifact. Nepal, Srilanka & Bangladesh all share this common heritage. Sarees predates India (1947) or Modern Hinduism (19th century.). Saree belongs to ALL South Asians! Similarly we share many other cultural artifacts!

Banarasi saree is exclusively Indian as Banaras a.k.a Varanasi a.k.a Kashi is in India. The saree is mentioned in Ramayana, Mahabharata and Rig Veda. The saree incorporates temple borders, lotus, buta and peacock. None of which holds significance in islam. Just because your grandma owns one doesn't make it "South Asian"!

@theprathamesh5 Banarasi saree isn’t exclusively Indian.it’s a shared South Asian heritage. Our brides have been wearing it on their wedding days for generations. My maa has it, my grandmothers this tradition runs in every BANGLADESHI household.
