Does High-Tech agriculture belong in the WEF's Food Future? Thoughtful piece by our technology sister company @IntravisionGP on the role high tech agriculture can really play in systemic change. TLDR: new technology should be integrated in systems thinking, even when it's not fully mature. Vertical farming and hydroponics still have hurdles to work out, above all that of finding sustainable, cost effective energy sources. But their potential to be "not a replacement, but a stabiliser" in an increasingly volatile and untenable food supply chain, "to conserve water, eliminate chemical inputs, and detach food production from volatile climates—all while enabling local, scalable food sovereignty" makes them worth including in food system initiatives.
