Barry Heneghan received nearly 2000 transfers from Sinn Féin in the 2024 election, 1000 from Aontú and 1000 from Labour. He received 283 from Fine Gael. On what planet was voting confidence in this government a good idea?

@VirginMediaNews That’s all well and good, but the Fianna Fáil backbenchers have repeatedly shown Micheál Martin that he can do whatever he wants and they’ll still crawl back to him with their tails between their legs. Tomorrow will be a perfect example. It’s pathetic.

NEW: Independent TDs Sean Canney, Marian Harkin, and ‘Boxer’ Moran have confirmed they will vote confidence in the Government. Barring any backbench rebels, the Government has secured the 87 votes they need to win the vote.

Ahead of tomorrow’s confidence vote IND TD Barry Heneghan said he was carefully considering his position and consulting with his team. He added that he was progressing private wires legislation to reduce wasted renewable energy and that work would stop if the Government falls.

Sinn Féin TDs and Senators met this morning and will be moving a motion of no confidence in the government. The actions of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independents have been disastrous. They have lost the confidence of the public. It is clear that they still are not listening and do not accept the scale of this fuel and cost of living crisis. All reports indicate it will be more of the same half measures from them this evening. This is unacceptable. We need the maximum reductions now, as proposed by Sinn Féin weeks ago.

I spent a few hours at the #fuelprotest today because I wanted to see, first hand, what the situation was like. Emergency vehicles are accommodated. Protesters are passionate and calm. People are singing, dancing and posing no threat. The government must listen.

@dvdcks47 @MrRCain2 There was actually an extensive, peer reviewed study done on the cost of unity last year, with the consensus being that it is far more affordable than once thought, and would include significant investments into public services, jobs, etc in the north.

@MrRCain2 Has anyone  put pen to paper to see the cost of unity.  NO not one person so that needs worked out. Has anyone given a date for a U.I. NO. The people will want to know what exactly they are voting for as nobody is going to go out  to vote for something they no nothing about .

Is Fine Gael’s Joe Neville going to actually allow @LNBDublin to finish a sentence or does he just enjoy the sound of his voice as much as Shane Coleman does? #TonightVMTV

@gaagrinch Of course, and anything can happen before then, so it’s odd that a journalist would make such a statement given the current lay of the land.

Up six points since the General Election. More than any other party in the country. 6 points ahead of Fine Gael. A whopping 8 points ahead of Fianna Fáil, but Daniel Murray from the Business Post says Sinn Féin is in trouble. Irish media, folks 😂

@BobWils91952895 Static would suggest that there’s practically no movement. The Green Party and People Before Proft are two parties that I’d describe as static. SF has risen 5 points since the election. More than any other party in the country. I wouldn’t describe that as static.
