Body language and words matter as a leader, especially of such a storied program. He looked like death in pressers after multiple losses this season, mentioned self harm, plenty of non-answers, got fined for criticizing officials, etc. Communication hasn’t been his strong suit.

The reason Mark Pope's comments get dissected so much now is because he's had so many weird comments this season. The elite coaches I've spent any time around are highly effective, usually efficient, communicators.
