Three problems, Rob: it's not a mosque (it's a food bank with a small prayer room), it wasn't a consecrated church (it was an old school building), and it doesn't serve any faith exclusively. The one thing genuinely destroyed at the site was a digger torched by arsonists who'd swallowed the exact "it's becoming a mosque" myth you're reposting. The C of E condemned the attack. Maybe read past the headline next time.

The @irishfa @NorthernIreland head of Comms, or whoever is responsible for their outrageous social media output, should no longer be in position. From their GAA alliance on Casement to a multitude of other issues, the IFA has lost all touch with the core ethos & identity of the longstanding fanbase. There needs to be fundamental structural and personnel change. Some staff members of the IFA may find themselves having allegiance to Celtic, or even (as is the case with some senior management) the Republic of Ireland, and that’s fine as their personal view, but it’s another matter when they then start to seek to impose those views- which are contrary to the identity & ethos of the majority of the core fanbase- via IFA output.

When Gary Neville lied about Bruno Fernandes, he never acknowledged it or apologised.
When Paul Scholes & Nicky Butt disrespected Lisandro Martinez, they didn't apologise & doubled down.
When Roy Keane misquoted Bruno Fernandes, he chose not to apologise & doubled down.
It takes maturity & grace to admit when you've gotten something wrong. Players have called out these ex-players & they couldn't handle it.
All they had to do was say they got it wrong, perhaps even apologise & move on. They would rather it drag on, because that gets them what they truly want.
Disappointing to find out you have to separate the players you loved from the pundits you can't stand.
