28 mars 1974, l'improbable se produit, Lennon & McCartney sont ensemble dans un studio à Los Angeles. La dernière fois qu'ils étaient ensemble dans un studio, c'était en août 1969 avec un petit groupe qui a fait ses preuves dans les 60's. Entre temps, ils se sont déchirés à coup de procés, de déclarations et de chansons plus ou moins insultantes. Paul & Linda rendent alors visite à John à la fin d'une séance d'enregistrement. Parmi les témoins de ce moment devenu historique, Stevie Wonder, Harry Nilsson, Mal Evans et May Pang, la compagne du "lost weekend". Elle racontera souvent la scène comme un moment presque irréel pour tout le monde tellement John & Paul semblaient s'être vus la veille, comme si les conflits n'avaient jamais existé. La relation Lennon & McCartney, seuls John & Paul la comprennent réellement. Toute cette bande se lance alors dans une jam session sans grand intérêt musical. L'événement n'est pas là.
