After 12+ years building websites, the pattern is obvious: The more “custom” a site gets, the worse it usually performs. Not always. But often. Most businesses don’t need something unique. They need something that works.

Most websites are built for designers, not customers. That’s why they fail. Too much movement Too many sections Too many ideas Looks good Does nothing Simple sites win because people actually understand them.

If your website isn’t bringing in customers, it’s not a traffic problem. It’s a clarity problem. Most sites try to say everything and end up saying nothing. People don’t think. They skim. If they don’t get it in 5 seconds, they’re gone.

@l_spitaler @framer MAKE IT FREE. What does it hurt. If they remix it and launch a paid subscription you get affiliate revenue. Some is better than none.

After the recent success of my @framer template Avrix, I am strongly considering to make all my templates Free. Any thoughts?

@volkmanndario @framer I think you're overthinking it. Schedule it, do it, announce it has an update and move on.

Question for @framer template creators. How do you handle major updates? I wanted to update Ambience a few weeks ago but kept thinking: what if someone remixes it right in the middle of the process? They'd get an incomplete version. You can work on a copy and push changes later, sure. But some updates take time. Especially anything CMS related. You can't just swap that in five minutes. What's your workflow for this? Do you just go for it and hope nobody remixes mid update? Do you schedule it? Am I overthinking it?

You have to much technology in your workflow. I promise.

I have been testing a bunch of AI built apps and god they are horrible. Many are completely useless beyond one or two main user flows and if you skip that exact flow they just break.

@Matthias_Oel I keep seeing people post affiliate commissions -- would love to know more of where you're getting that from? Is that just your link for hosting or you promoting others designs and them giving you a kick back?

I am convinced most x creators that build designs don't actually have any clients or know what clients are looking for. These templates are amazing, but often don't work for clients content or their imagery.

This framer challenge is different. We have building some awesome microsite for a few weeks now and about to drop a few for free. Building up to some paid versions.
