A face carved to endure.... The Lady of Elche, discovered in 1897 at La Alcudia near Elche in Spain, dates to the 4th Century BC and represents one of the most important artifacts of Iberian culture before Roman domination. Sculpted from limestone and standing about 56cm tall, the bust draws attention immediately through its symmetry, calm expression, and intricate adornment. The headdress is its most striking feature. Large, wheel-like side ornaments frame the face, combined with layered necklaces and finely carved details that suggest both status and symbolism. These elements point to a society with established hierarchies and complex aesthetic traditions. The craftsmanship reflects careful planning and technical skill, especially in balancing proportion and ornamentation. The purpose remains debated. A cavity carved into the back of the sculpture has led many researchers to believe it may have functioned as a funerary urn, possibly holding cremated remains. This detail shifts the interpretation from simple portrait to ritual object, linking the figure to beliefs about death, memory, and identity. Its meaning is still open. Some interpret the figure as a goddess, others as an aristocratic woman or priestess. Without written records to confirm her role, the sculpture remains a rare visual testimony of Iberian life, preserving both mystery and cultural depth in stone. Today’s Russian papers on Russia’s economic problems: “Managed cooling has turned into accelerating decline”; “economic situation worse than forecast”; “in a few months the IT industry may be in ruins.” But Botox foot injections are booming. #ReadingRussia

Israel Just Opened Fire On An Ambulance In South Lebanon A number of casualties inflicted on medical workers in the village of Kounin. This isn’t a ceasefire, it’s an agreement where Hezbollah stops firing & Israel does as it pleases. Nonstop bombing of the south.

Good job 👏🇬🇧

Israel has destroyed the final bridge to Southern Lebanon. There is now no way for millions of displaced people to reach their homes. There is no means for essential aid and supplies to reach those who were unable to flee. Another mammoth war crime, another act of barbarity.

Channel 4 News was at the scene of an airstrike in Lebanon that hit near a hospital just moments after a team of paramedics attended a funeral for one of their colleagues in Nabatieh. It comes as President Trump has announced that a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will begin later tonight. More than a million people have been displaced by the Israeli invasion of the south, while airstrikes have struck across the country, targeting villages and major cities.

Israeli journalists do the best reporting on criminal activity carried out by settlers in the West Bank. In Gaza, Israel said the bombing was necessary to stop Hamas. But in the West Bank, there was no violence or Hamas offensive.

Horrifying video which totally contradicts the Israeli military claims that the ambulances are being used for ‘military purposes’. The attacks killed 4 medics in Nabatieh in south Lebanon including a young father we interviewed a few weeks ago, Mahdi Abou Zeid. I’ll repost the report in this thread. His last words to us:’ If we rest, who will do the job’ 🧵
