We've heard from Colleen Berryessa on the use of text messaging to help reduce instances of litigants' 'failure to appear', and judges' perspectives on how this technology can be best harnessed.

On the Vancouver session, we've heard from Ana Silvestre on how lower criminal courts in Brazil have coped with the Covid crisis, and from Michelle Leigh Statz offering important points about recognising the rural / urban divide in increasingly technology-focused court systems

@Judgesandtech listening to @ToyCronin about her work examining telephone mediation services in New Zealand. Work included listening to 40 telephone mediations (Tenancy Tribunal matters) and interviews with adjudicators.

@Judgesandtech listening to @ToyCronin - telephone hearing and conferences support A2J - easier access and convenor can call - less disruption for parties. Easier to manage some cases where anti social elements. But - can take longer, turn taking, no visual cues have an impact
