Fun fact: I played against Syracuse head football coach Fran Brown in college (Matt Rhule was also their LB coach)
in that game…
Brown (CB, Western Carolina): 9 tackles, 2 INT
Me (CB, Mars Hill #15 here): 2 tackles, 1 PBU, gave up a 48-yard TD then sprained my ankle 🥴 #tbt
@markallanbovair Our 14 year old has a smart phone but zero social media and has limits on time she can spend on all non school related apps. (<10mins per day). Wife looks over her interactions at least 1x/wk
Seems there’s some debate about giving kids phones. Most who think they shouldn’t either have zero kids or their kids are young.
Reply to this tweet if you have a kid age 13 or over who doesn’t have a smartphone?
This is a simple collection of investing guidelines I follow:
- Invest when you have money to invest
- Don't time the market
- Invest with with at least a 10 year holding period in mind
Sadly, not many investors can pull it off
@markallanbovair I actually think that someone who starts with $0 and ends up with $1M or $2M in 20 - 30 years probably got there by having certain frugal habits, such as shopping at Wal-Mart for example.
But I agree that this billionaire is just trying to appeal to the masses
@BrianFeroldi The same $6 million, invested in Berkshire Hathaway at the end of 1967 would have bought 315,789 shares
The price was $19/share at the end of 1967
These shares today are worth over $133 billion
Warren Buffett paid $4 million to buy 5% of $DIS in 1966
Current value? $16 BILLION
That's a 4,000+ bagger!
The problem: Buffett sold it all in 1967 for $6 million
Lesson: Selling a mega-winner early is one of the most expensive mistakes an investor can make
“We have been wrong about some things up til now, and we will be wrong about some things going forward, but I assure you we will be open and honest to all of you every step of the way.”
Why is it so hard for them to speak this way? It’s always absolutes.
I’m hearing about a lot of fully vaxxed people getting, and spreading, the virus in my area. Nobody seriously ill, so perhaps it’s working. But maybe they shouldn’t call it a vaccine? It’s more of a pre-treatment that lasts around six months.
