2nd American F15E crew member rescued and safe after complex rescue operation that began Friday morning, two senior US officials confirm to me.

🚨🚨🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷U.S. special forces rescued the second crew member of the F-15 fighter jet that was shot down over Iran, three U.S. officials told me. My story on @axios axios.com/2026/04/05/ira…

BREAKING: The second crew member from the downed U.S. F-15E fighter jet has successfully been rescued from Iranian territory following a heavy firefight with IRGC forces according to a U.S. official who spoke to Al Jazeera. Confirmation of the rescue comes after widespread reports that heavy clashes were ongoing in Iran near the missing crew members location. The extraction concludes a nearly 2 day long rescue operation that began after the USAF F-15 fighter jet crashed in Iranian territory in what was the first shootdown of an American aircraft in hostile territory since the beginning of the Iran war.

BREAKING: In a high-stakes regional meeting held in Riyadh on March 19, the UAE reportedly told fellow Arab and Muslim states that Iran must be defeated “by any means necessary,” including the potential use of nuclear force. Diplomatic fault lines also emerged during the talks, with Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, and the UAE opposing Pakistan’s push to include a condemnation of Israel in the joint statement. In the aftermath, relations between the UAE and Pakistan have sharply deteriorated. The UAE has reportedly demanded the return of all financial deposits and loans extended to Pakistan. Islamabad is now moving to repay the funds immediately. The developments were reported by Absar Alam, a senior Pakistani journalist with well-placed sources in the ruling party and security establishment.
