I do think Byram is better than people are giving him credit for. He is still only 25. He fits the timeline
He needs to raise him game and be a top pair guy. I think he can.

The Blackhawks needed a veteran top 4 D. They got him
This whole project comes down to them being right about Frondell, Lev, Rinzel, and to a lesser degree Kantserov. If Frondell is a 2way ppg, Kantserov is a 60pt guy, and the d become legit then we are going to be good
If they’re not then we are fucked and the 4th overall pick in this draft wasn’t going to fix anything

I don't hate that Blackhawks trade as much as most people.
Yes, they overpaid. Yes, they're investing a ton into a guy who hasn't yet proven he's a top-pair D. But the prices are insane leaguewide this summer, and they needed to start being aggressive and doing things.
I also don't think the draft options were great sans Stenberg. This #4 pick is not as valuable as the average #4 pick.
