@LargoElemento Putting six candles on the altar popped out of nowhere in England in the 19th century due to either ignorance or explicit attempts to imitate Rome instead of following authoritative English custom. A lot of Anglo-Catholics were against this practice.

The reason that there are Anglican altars with six candles on them is due to either sloppy Victorian Ritualist scholarship, or a desire to imitate and conform to the Roman church, instead of conforming the authoritative English tradition. Roman Use is an abomination.
