We’d Best Prepare Now for the Coming Black ICE Storm
With ICE free to racially profile, and 350K Haitians losing their temporary protected status as targets for deportation, all Black people in the U.S. should be concerned.

BREAKING: Étienne Davignon, 93 year old coloniser and former EU supremo, has been charged with complicity in the murder of Patrice Lumumba. This is genuinely huge news. Great news.
"Every day for the thief, one day for the owner" - African proverb.

Nels Abbey@nelsabbey
Belgium is actively considering bringing criminal charges against the coloniser and former EU big cheese, Étienne Davignon (91), for his role in the murder of Patrice Lumumba. A decision is due to be announced shortly.

APA dictionary definition of big-lie:
a propaganda device in which a false statement of extreme magnitude is constantly repeated to persuade the public. The assumption is that a big lie is less likely to be challenged than a lesser one because people will assume that evidence exists to support a statement of such magnitude. Josef Goebbels, the propaganda minister in Nazi Germany, repeatedly used this technique when he charged the Nazis’ enemies with heinous crimes.

Fanon famously wrote, "Every spectator is a coward or a traitor," and few things are as cowardly as those who wield cultural capital and do nothing with it.
Art, whether it be music, movies, poetry, or paintings, has a bidirectional relationship with reality. It both reflects and shapes the material world. It can maintain systems or attempt to transform them.
The question in this critical hour is what do we make of art that has castrated itself and sold its teeth for comfort?
Citing Nina Simone, I asked Mumia for his thoughts on the production and consumption of art that soley offers escapism as the solution.
He agreed with Fanon: if your art is not a weapon, you have failed.
We are flanked by failure, drowning in it, and we beg for more.

Most people in the West trying to make commentary on or create content about Iran are ignorant about Islam outside of the way in which Western media has framed it. This goes even further, because even if you have surface level knowledge, it’s usually devoid of an understanding of Shia Muslims.
Shia Muslims are either ignored, flattened by bias into stereotypes, or only mentioned when there is war, conflict, or geopolitics. So people may hear the word Shia without understanding theology, history, devotional life, justice, or the deep love and loyalty centered on the family of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
If you are truly trying to understand anything in life, you should study it. You should take the time to acquire knowledge. If nothing else it will make you a better citizen of the world.

A materialist society, such as the United States, that treats every Christian holiday as a secularized vessel for commodification under consumer capitalism, will never truly understand the beauty of the month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is organized around restraint. It is a direct challenge to materialism and the resistance to consumption.

During the month of Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr is the night when the first revelation of the Qur’an was sent to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Night of Power takes place within the last 10 nights of Ramadan. We are currently in those nights, and I want to share this piece by political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal.
Read, share, and keep the oppressed in your prayers and duas.
