The group is now moving between businesses to submit CVs while calling for more employment opportunities for local residents. Law enforcement agencies are on site and monitoring the situation. The protest remains ongoing, with developments expected as engagements continue between the group and affected companies.

SIU Freezes Turffontein Properties, Farm and Vehicles After Uncovering R19.1 Million UIF Fraud by Nako Mang Trading Enterprise Involving Fake Employees and Diverted Funds The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured preservation orders from the Special Tribunal over assets worth millions following an investigation into fraudulent claims totalling R19,183,197.34 submitted to the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) under the COVID-19 Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS). The SIU found that Nako Mang Trading Enterprise CC misrepresented employment relationships between 2020 and 2023 to access UIF TERS funds. Affidavits from individuals listed as employees confirmed they were never employed by the company, exposing a coordinated scheme to unlawfully obtain relief funds meant for workers affected during the pandemic period. Preserved assets include two residential properties in Turffontein, Gauteng, an agricultural holding in Union Forests Plantation Agricultural Holdings, and several vehicles such as a Toyota Dyna, Hyundai TQ H-1, Mercedes-Benz W205, and a Karet 1800 T Nosecone trailer. The Tribunal has barred any sale, transfer, or disposal without approval. Investigations further revealed that director Mr Nikluis Manuel allegedly purchased vehicles in cash shortly after UIF payouts and retained portions of the funds as “commission.” Additional beneficiaries, including Ms Khanyi Angel Nokukhanya, received R569,920.21, which was later used towards property acquisitions, indicating the movement of funds through various channels. The SIU said this pattern reflects money laundering practices, where illicit funds are layered and integrated into movable and immovable assets to conceal their origin. The preservation orders aim to secure these assets while civil recovery proceedings continue, ensuring they are not dissipated before the case is finalised. The investigation forms part of a broader probe authorised by Cyril Ramaphosa under Proclamation R.8 of 2021. The SIU confirmed it will pursue recovery of losses exceeding R148.4 million across multiple implicated companies and refer any criminal evidence to the National Prosecuting Authority for further action.
