Article 22 of the League of Nations Covenant imposed a sacred trust: Britain was obliged by law to advise, assist, and protect Palestine’s population — including protection from foreign settlement and coercion. There is not one legitimate argument endorsing any external claims on Palestine. Recommending partition without consent, while violence and external pressure were ongoing, violated that trust and its successor obligations under the UN Charter and International law.
