For me, it’s the pictures of our fallen heroes with their kids that hit the hardest. SFC Christopher A. Celiz was another of my Airborne Rangers in the Sky for whom I did a ton of push-ups. I never knew him personally, but I know many guys who did, and they describe him as an all-around incredible guy.
When I got out of the Army, his wife was still involved in family events at 1/75. What struck me most was the “Daddy & Daughter” dance our chaplain team puts on. She and some wonderful people helped set it up, and I couldn’t help but wonder what that must have been like for her—seeing all these men, some who knew her husband, dancing with their daughters on a riverboat in Savannah. She later said she held it together pretty well until the slow dance, when she had to step out.
God bless her and their daughter, and God bless all those still living with the sting of losing their hero.

I think the solution is rather simple: shrink the Army so that they can have a better sense of self.
It is the compassionate thing to do.

Here's a difference between the #Army and the #Marines: For the #USMC, being in "The Corps" is all-important, regardless of your individual unit. For the Army, the pride comes from your community - airborne, Rangers, cavalry, etc. "The Army" is simply too large to embrace

It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered. You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day. This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm. The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone. A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time. Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans. We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all. Fix the time zones and affix standard time.
