To recap Bucky Irving's situation post-free agency: + Bucs sign Kenneth Gainwell (very good receiver/passing down back that will limit receiving work for Bucky) + Bucs also tender Sean Tucker, meaning there's a pretty strong chance he's back in TB (took away notable goal line work from Bucky last year) + Bucs offense declined significantly from this time last year, going from 5th in EPA/Play in 2024 to 20th in 2025 (adding to TD upside concerns) + Bucky himself went from league-best as a rookie to league-worst efficiency last year, and was running poorly even pre-injury (bottom 10 in YPC, YACo, and explosive rate) Saw someone refer to Bucky as having a potential "empty calories" role, and that feels like a great way to put it. Even if he gets a bunch of attempts, he's at major risk of losing a lot of high-value touches (receiving and goal line) to these other RBs. And with additional concerns around the offensive environment and Bucky bouncing back in terms of individual performance, it feels like he has to hit a large parlay to pay-off/outperform a borderline RB1 price tag.
