A really interesting race to watch here. Democrats are now projected to win the governorship of Iowa. This would be the first Democratic governor in Iowa since 2010. In the last 16 years under Republican leadership, Iowa has: - Dropped in education from top 5 to 20. - Dropped in healthcare from 6 to 18. - lowered life expectancy by a year. - doubled the murder rate from 1.5 to 3. - Infant mortality rate increase. - Obesity increased. - Adult literacy dropped.

While China was busy shipping missile chemicals to Iran and collecting yuan tolls at Hormuz, someone was inside its most sensitive supercomputer stealing everything. CNN reports that a hacker group calling itself FlamingChina breached the China National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin and exfiltrated up to 10 petabytes of classified defence data. The samples posted on dark web forums include bomb and missile designs, animated explosion simulations, structural integrity tests, renderings of the J-20 stealth fighter, sixth-generation aircraft concepts, nuclear submarine schematics, hypersonic weapons systems, and target analyses for American assets including HIMARS launchers and carrier strike groups. Ten petabytes. For context, the entire printed collection of the US Library of Congress is approximately 10 terabytes. This breach is one thousand times that volume. It is being sold for cryptocurrency on Breach Forums. Cybersecurity experts who reviewed the previews told CNN the data appears genuine, matching known output patterns from the NSCC Tianjin facility, which serves over 6,000 clients including defence agencies and aviation firms across China. The timing is extraordinary. Trump posted a 50 percent tariff threat on any country supplying military weapons to Iran hours before CNN published this story. Five Chinese vessels shipped sodium perchlorate to Iran from Gaolan Port in the past six weeks, enough propellant precursor for hundreds of ballistic missiles. China’s ghost fleet continues operating through the IRGC’s yuan toll booth at Hormuz. And now the supercomputer that designed the weapons China is helping Iran reconstitute has been gutted by hackers selling its contents for the same cryptocurrency that Iran charges for strait passage. The irony is architectural. China built a parallel financial system using yuan and crypto to bypass the dollar at Hormuz. A hacker group is now using crypto to bypass Chinese state security and sell Beijing’s most classified military designs to anyone with a wallet address. The same technology that enables sanction evasion enables espionage monetisation. The blockchain does not distinguish between a toll payment and a weapons leak. It processes both. For Xi, this is a catastrophe arriving at the worst possible moment. Bessent’s mid-May Beijing summit was already going to be difficult. Trump holds the waiver on 140 million barrels of Chinese-bound Iranian crude. The 50 percent tariff threat targets China’s arms pipeline. The IDF just destroyed 100 Hezbollah targets using F-35I aircraft with Israeli software upgrades the Pentagon approved today. And now the classified designs for China’s most advanced military systems, the systems that justify the rare earth monopoly and the South China Sea posture and the Taiwan coercion campaign, are available for purchase on a dark web forum for less than the price of a single Hormuz transit. If the data is genuine, every adversary and ally of China can now reverse-engineer the capabilities Beijing spent decades and hundreds of billions developing. The J-20’s stealth profile. The hypersonic glide vehicle’s trajectory calculations. The nuclear submarine’s acoustic signature. The sixth-generation fighter’s sensor architecture. All of it, priced in crypto, available now. China wanted to build a post-dollar world. A hacker group just demonstrated what that world looks like when the technology works in both directions. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

The data from the hack at the Chinese super computer center included missile schematics and fusion simulations. If, as claimed, the hacker had access to this information for months, it shows massive security issues. Along with the recent purges and weapons failures, this hack shows serious problems in China's military industrial complex.

If this is real, it could be one of the largest data breaches in China’s history. A hacker group claims it extracted over 10 petabytes of data from a state-run supercomputing facility, widely believed by experts to be the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin. This center supports thousands of clients, including research institutes, aerospace programs, and defense-linked organizations. What’s reportedly in the data: - Documents marked “secret” in Chinese - Missile and bomb schematics - Aerospace and aviation research - Bioinformatics and fusion simulation data - Files linked to major state entities like AVIC and COMAC Cybersecurity experts who reviewed sample data say it matches what you would expect from such a facility, though the full breach is not independently verified. Even more concerning: - The attacker claims access lasted months without detection - Sample datasets were posted online via Telegram - Full access is reportedly being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars in crypto At this stage, the scale and origin are still being verified. But if even partially true, it points to a serious vulnerability in infrastructure tied to China’s scientific and defense ecosystem. If a centralized system like this can be penetrated, what does that say about the security of the data it was processing? #China #Cybersecurity #CCP #DataBreach #Geopolitics #Tech cnn.com/2026/04/08/chi…

Give A Shit About Nature
Give A Shit About Nature@giveashitnature·
Yarrow will grow in your shittiest soil, survive your driest summer, and feed more pollinators than most plants you actually tried to grow. Yarrow blooms from late spring through fall, making it one of the longest pollinator windows of any garden plant. Miner bees, mason bees, bumblebees, leafcutter bees, sweat bees, checkered beetles, and butterflies all use it. It builds soil as it grows, tolerates drought, and spreads gradually without being aggressive. It comes back every year without replanting, expensive fertilizer, or much water once it's established. One note worth knowing: many yarrow plants sold at big box garden centers are European ecotypes or colorful cultivars, not true North American natives. For maximum wildlife value, look for Achillea millefolium from a native plant nursery in your region. Plant it in a sunny spot with decent drainage. Come back in summer and count how many things are using it.

1/2 🧵 Yes, they're considering Syria 🇸🇾😏👌 Syria now stands before what I call the “4+1 Equation.” It is built on one central reality: every great regional crisis contains within it a hidden strategic opportunity. And in this moment, I believe that opportunity belongs to Syria. The instability surrounding the Strait of Hormuz has exposed a deeper truth: the Arab world, and indeed the global economy, cannot remain permanently hostage to a single vulnerable maritime chokepoint. Every serious state in the region should now be thinking not only in terms of reaction, but in terms of alternatives. Not just Plan A, but Plan B and Plan C. That is where Syria comes in. Syria’s geography is not merely a map feature. It is a dormant strategic asset. If approached correctly, Syria can transform from a war-ravaged frontier into a central corridor of oil, gas, ports, rail, trade, agriculture, and regional integration. This is not a fantasy of slogans. It is a framework of concrete projects. That is why I call it the 4+1 Equation. Project One: Reviving the Tapline corridor. The historic Tapline, established in the mid-20th century and later shut down, once represented a direct overland route for Gulf oil toward the Mediterranean. In today’s environment, its logic is even stronger than before. A rehabilitated and expanded oil corridor running from Saudi Arabia across Jordan into Syria, ending at Baniyas or another Syrian Mediterranean terminal, would create a strategic alternative to maritime chokepoint dependence. And not merely as a symbolic line, but potentially as a modern multi-line corridor capable of carrying substantial daily volumes. Such a route would not only serve Saudi and Gulf energy security, but would place Syria at the center of a new architecture of stability. Project Two: Rehabilitating the Kirkuk–Baniyas line. The Iraq–Syria energy corridor is another dormant strategic artery. The Kirkuk–Baniyas route, if politically enabled and technically rehabilitated, could again become one of the most important overland oil links in the region. A modernized system, possibly expanded with parallel capacity over time, could link Iraqi production directly to the Mediterranean through Syria. This would not only diversify Iraq’s export options, but create revenue, transit value, and strategic leverage for Syria while strengthening the logic of Arab economic interdependence. Project Three: The Qatari gas corridor through Syria. The gas question is no less important than oil. If regional conditions allow for a Qatari gas line running northward through Jordan and Syria toward Turkey and Europe, Syria would become a central node in one of the most consequential energy corridors of the 21st century. The significance here is not merely commercial. It is geopolitical. Whoever sits at the junction of gas transit, especially between the Gulf and Europe, becomes part of the strategic equation of continents, not just neighboring states. Project Four: Gas processing and export through Baniyas. The Syrian opportunity does not end at transit. Syria can also become a site of processing, storage, and re-export. If gas infrastructure at Baniyas were rehabilitated and modernized, Syria would not only be a passageway, but a platform. Gas arriving from the Gulf could move onward by land to Turkey and Europe, but it could also be handled through Syrian Mediterranean infrastructure, giving Syria a direct role in energy logistics rather than a passive one. These four projects together create a new strategic melody for Syria: oil, gas, and ports. Not slogans. Not emotionalism. Not borrowed rhetoric. Real assets. Real transit. Real leverage. Real state-building. But there is also the “plus one.” 👇 ⤵️

This is the type of encirclement that Russia attempted in the past, where it lacked the intelligence and resources to close. Now Ukrainians have both and will be doing this type of action multiple places in the coming months. The Russian Army is now suffering from the same problem that the Wehrmacht did in 1945: being commanded by an isolated and ill-informed tyrant whose orders are driven by fantasy and egomania, not real tactics. #UkraineMustWin

🇺🇦🇷🇺 ENCIRCLEMENT brewing in Zaporizhzhia Ukrainian forces are closing in between Novoyakovlivka and Stepnohirsk, tightening the space and putting Russian units at risk of getting cut off This isn’t just movement, it’s pressure from multiple sides, and once supply routes start getting threatened, positions collapse fast If that pocket closes, it’s not just territory, it’s equipment, manpower, and time lost all at once

The same is needed in Europe." - Volodymyr Zelenskyy 🇺🇦 Middle East, Gulf, now Europe, Ukraine isn’t just asking for help anymore, it’s EXPORTING battlefield experience Joint production, defense financing, modernization programs, this is long-term military integration, not short-term aid Hundreds of thousands mobilized, a 1,000+ km frontline, constant drone warfare, that kind of experience is now being turned into partnerships This is a shift, Ukraine from recipient… to SECURITY provider
