@MEdwardsWrites NASA scientist at the Air & Space Museum gave the best explanation as to what's going on with carbon. Takes a wee bit of quantum mechanics to understand, but it's clear why it just keeps building up. Russian data from Venus was helpful. The presentation is their site.

Did you know heat doesn’t cause evaporation of water? It actually increases the kinetic energy of the water and then breaks the intermolecular bonds of the water and escapes into the air. So, heat affects evaporation but it’s helpful to understand that step inbetween.
