Today we looked at some of the traditions around Easter. We realised, when we looked at the calendar, we won't be at school when the Easter Bunny usually comes so we wrote letters to see if he could come early to Millbrook!

This week we have been very busy surprising our mums for Mother's Day! We made cards with our own special words and made fridge magnets with unique designs! Thank you Mummies for all you do for us!

Reception have been inspired by the artist Yayoi Kusama. We then did our made our own art using dots! Each one unique and beautiful!

In Reception we are good at looking after the school guinea-pigs! We groomed them and then feed them their favourite treat - grass!

Yesterday, Heathrow Class had their turn at making pizza at Pizza Express!

This week we revisited and built on our mathematical understanding of measures. We used non-standard units to measure length and height. Even Mr Biling got involved! I wonder how many bricks tall he was?

Some deep understanding of numbers going on in Reception as we played close your eyes, open, say what you see... "I see 7 and it's odd" how do you know "because it's in the 5s way now but if it was in the 2s way it wouldn't have a pair". Can you move it to prove it? "I sure can!"

We read Pete the Cat- Perfect Pizza Party! Then we had a competition to see who could draw the craziest pizza! My favourite being a numberblock pizza! It was also a great opportunity to explore words as we decided some weren't crazy but disgusting, revolting or even repulsive!

Yesterday we wrote thank you cards to Pizza Express as we all had such a great time and we love a bit of writing for a purpose in Reception!

Today Monument Class got on the bus to Mill Hill and ended up at Pizza Express! We had a great time learning about pizza! We were fabulous chefs and enjoyed a pizza party back at school!!

Monument Class have been getting ready for our trip to Pizza Express tomorrow. We read The Little Red Hen makes a pizza and made our own playdough pizzas with loose parts!

Looks like our doing before writing really helped us in our writing! Some fabulous instructions to use at home with our grown-ups!

Finishing the day with tossing pancake competitions and pancake races! Tomorrow we shall learn all about the true meaning behind Shrove Tuesday.

A little detour on the way back to school!

It was lovely seeing you all and hearing about your half terms! Today was all about getting ready for pancake day tomorrow! Shopping lists written and maps to the Co-op drawn! We are all prepared! Love real writing and maths in Reception!!! Roll on tomorrow...

This week has been children's mental health week. The children learnt about breathing techniques to use when your mind is so busy, who we are connected to and how we connect to others.
