James Baldwin said it in 1965 and it has not aged a single day: The reason Americans cannot face their history is that the history indicts their identity. And you cannot ask someone to accept the evidence that destroys who they think they are. White Americans, he said, need the Black American to remain inferior, because their own superiority is the only thing that makes sense of a country built on those terms. The same structure applies outward. Americans need the rest of the world to remain in need of American guidance, American intervention, American rescue. Because without that story, what exactly was all the violence for? The empire doesn't just extract resources. It extracts meaning. And the people who built their inner lives on that meaning will fight as hard to keep it as any general ever fought to keep territory. Harder, maybe. You can negotiate territory. You cannot negotiate with someone's need to believe they are one of the good ones.

Giving poor people money vastly reduces crime. Giving cops more money never has worked to reduce crime. They'd rather have you starving with guns pointed at your heads then to have abundance and peace. They love your anxiety. They feed off it.

In case anyone isn’t aware, Trump is demanding Zambia to hand over its mineral rights by end of day tomorrow or the U.S. gov’t will cut off the country’s access to the AIDS medications that are literally keeping its citizens alive. Just thought y’all should know.

It's physically painful to watch society get less and less intelligent, more evil, weird, and devoid of empathy every single day.

People starve in communist countries when there isn't enough food to go around. People starve in capitalist societies because "if you can't afford to buy enough food, you deserve to die."

American capitalism is violent. It is built on violence and propped up by violence. The only time the violence is condemned in the media & by politicians is when it boomerangs back onto the rich. Violence happens every day to poor people at home & abroad and not a word is said.

We cannot have sustainable energy because it threatens the oil industry. We cannot have healthcare because it threatens insurance. We cannot have peace because it threatens the weapons industry. Capitalism built a system where doing the right thing is treated like bad business.

My parents marriage was illegal a few years before I was born. People alive now want my marriage to be made illegal today. Laws are not made to keep people safe. They are made to keep most of us complacent until they can take away something else without a fight.

Professor Clara Mattei just gave a masterclass on the coercion of capitalism: “Capitalism has been imposed upon us by a tiny elite since the beginning. Liberal democracy is really only a superficial facade. When people rise up against the capitalist system liberals and fascists are best friends to implement austerity.” She wasn’t done teaching! She also points out capitalism itself isn’t natural and that it took control of the world using violence by excluding people from the land. Prior to capitalism forcing itself onto the world indigenous cultures used a much different method to organize their societies: “If you look at all the indigenous cultures it was based on circular, horizontal organization through councils. It was about caring for the commons and caring for nature rather than extracting.” Professor Mattei just gave the world a much needed wake up call with this interview and outlined the need for humanity to look to its indigenous roots for how to chart a sustainable path forward!

Feels like I’ve watched this show for the Epsteinth time.

Society is in shambles because we’ve really allowed money to take precedence over character, principles and values.

Seattle was the same way. Nothing made me feel prettier than having my boobs and makeup complimented by the drag queen in the bathroom of the goth club. And nothing made me feel safer from the predatory men than the queer and Trans crowd that took care of us baby queers.
