Our first couple of weeks starting school in Reception. We were learning to make friends, communicate, take turns, be happy and have fun. We are so proud of how well our Reception children have settled in to life at Mount Pleasant @school_mount 😁

Last week we welcomed our parents in for the final time for our summer stay and play sessions. We had a wonderful time celebrating the children’s achievements over the past year and took part in fun activities all to do with our ‘On The Beach’ learning adventure☀️ @school_mount

As part of our ‘On The Beach’ learning adventure we have been learning about transient art. The children were able to use natural materials found at the beach to create their art work. We think they look fabulous. Well done Reception 💛 @school_mount

Another fabulous demonstration of the art skills that we have been learning in Reception! We explored the art work of Henri Matisse and focused on his piece ‘The Snail’. We then created our own pictures of a snail using collage! Don’t they look fantastic? @school_mount 🎨👩‍🎨🧑‍🎨

We are artists 🧑‍🎨👩‍🎨🎨. As part of our topic on animals we became zoologists and drew detailed drawings of certain creatures. The children used their observation and sketching skills to create these wonderful pictures. Well done team 👏 @school_mount

🚦Beep Beep Day 2024🚦What a fantastic day we have had! We have learned some very important messages about how we can cross the road safely and how to be safe in a car. The children have enjoyed a wide range of activities covering all areas of EYFS! 🚗🚦🚖🚶🚶‍♀️! @school_mount

We had a very special visitor last Friday- Rosie the dog! Mrs Grinsell and Rosie came to our class to talk about how we look after dogs as part of our topic on pets! The children came up with their own questions to ask and they all had a little cuddle too 😍 @school_mount

🌈 Scarf dancing 🌈 We have loved learning a scarf dance in PE over the past couple of weeks! The children are so creative with their moves, happy faces all round! @school_mount 💚💜💙💛❤️🧡

🌙 Eid Mubarak 🌙The children have enjoyed learning about Ramadan and the festival of Eid today. A few members of our class celebrated Eid yesterday and it was lovely to hear about their celebrations and look at their beautiful mehndi ❤️ @school_mount

🕺💃 Reception Disco 💃🕺. Look at those happy faces! So much fun was had at our school disco. Thank you @pjtheshowmanuk for a wonderful afternoon of dancing in our pajamas 💙💛💚❤️@school_mount

World Book Day 2024 🌍📚. We had a jammed packed day full of activities based around our favourite traditional tale books. We made dens and extra book nooks in our classrooms so we could snuggle up and share books together. We ❤️ reading in Reception #WorldBookDay @school_mount

🕷🦗🐜Mini beast hunt🪲🪳🐞. A very exciting morning at forest school searching for mini beasts. We found lots of different types and learned about what groups of insects each one belongs to and how to identify them! Well done team Reception 💚 @school_mount

🌳 Forest school fun!🌳 What a great morning searching for signs of spring in the forest! We managed to avoid the rain and learned lots about new life at Saltwells @school_mount

🌱Outdoor learning!🌱 Reception have been learning about height and length this week. We were so impressed with how they negotiated with each other when ordering their sticks. Great use of the vocabulary we learnt too, Reception. You are all maths superstars! 🌟 @school_mount

We have loved tasting foods this week as part of our Chinese New Year celebrations. All the children had a go at trying at least one of the foods available - we are so proud of you! We certainly had lots of fun trying to eat the noodles. 🍜🥢🐉 @school_mount
