@JulieKennebeck It was a slow trickle over there at first but events of the last couple of weeks seem have to been the breaking point for many people.

The number of users, especially in the #MTBoS and #ITeachMath worlds, on that blue social media space seems to have exploded in the last few days. The conversation is more civilized, the ads are nonexistent, and the feel is surprisingly hopeful. Come join us in the Sky! 😉

I’m really sad about the mass exodus of people that will be rightfully leaving this app.

Hey #mtbos #iteachmath awhile ago I saw someone share a lesson about exponential functions by looking at check cash places and interest rates. Anyone have that/something similar? @edtechmathteach @AnkerMath @MrsSheehanMath @KubasiakRobin

@EducatorAdele Yeah I think it’s also just them being high schoolers and having a lot of other things on their mind! I have a hard time focusing on audiobooks sometimes too 🤣

@MrsSheehanMath Kids can't focus on it if they're just listening. I haven't met a kid yet who can't track reading text while listening to the audio. Speed might be an issue but it can be adjusted.

I sponsor the book club at school (that the kids wanted to start) but they rarely even finish the books they pick because they’re so stressed. One girl told me today she feels like she can’t just read for fun because she feels guilty she’s not being productive 😭😭😭

The math department has matching costumes today 🎃🥧

@EducatorAdele They read at home and just discuss the books during book club. I actually asked if they like audiobooks and a bunch of them said they can’t focus on it!

@MrsSheehanMath Can you provide audio so they can read along? I found that my grade 4 students loved reading this way.

Some non-teacher friends will text me during the school day and ask for a call when I get a moment. It’s on these days that I realize that other jobs get these fun little “moments” at work when you aren’t inundated with tasks.

One of my non-honors sophomores came in my room while my honors kids were doing some problems posted around the room to practice triangle similarity. We’re wrapping up triangle congruence rules in my other class so the student asked excitedly “they’re doing SAS too??” 🤣
